Ventoux Trip

Carolyn made it up the Ventoux, no trouble.

We had a an excellent week at Sault looked after by "Cycling Gems", Gerry and Neil Goldsmith.

A few other groups and clubs in the area and the weather was just fine, sunny, calm, in the low 20's in the afternoons, lots of largely traffic free roads and lesser cols up to 1,300m.Great time of year to go.

I rode the big one twice as my son drove down from Zurich to give his new car a spin.

Getting somewhat like Majorca in that it's easy to hire racing bikes if you don't want to bring your own, such as Albion Cycles in Sault.

I hope to go with Cycling Gems again next year to South Africa on a gravel road tour.

Will talk to the twins tonight about Majorca next year,it will be their call.

Glad I fitted a 34*30 bottom, it made a big difference.

The "Shelia Simson rule" is correct,  for the cols you do indeed need to add an extra tooth to the largest cog every two years after 60 years old.

  1. Sound likes a good set up John. We are in Wales at moment so will sort Majorca out when home.
